On a lighter note from the campaign trail.....

The caption on this one, I'm not sure my sunglasses could be any bigger. This from Meghan McCain's blog. I came across her blog the other day and what a breath of fresh air. While the MSM hosts the boxing match between the candidates, here you get things like playlists and top 10's. My favorite thing so far is the 10 Things You Don't Know About My Mom, who knew Mrs. McCain had such knowledge about my favorite beverage, beer!!! It's really a behind the scenes look into the Senator's campaign and a pleasant read, I highly recommend!!!

Shiite leader al-Sadr defies Iraq gov't

I hope this is al-Sadr's last mistake. And I think this time he just might pay for it. Gen. Petreaus doesn't mess around and if anyone knows how to deal with al-Sadr, it's him. While the MSM will harp on this as it's the only negative they can find right now, I think it will be short lived. Why, because I think Gen Petreaus is DA' MAN!!! and al-Sadr is in for a rude awakening.

Bush Administration Proposes Sweeping Overhaul of Financial Regulation

I really need to read more before I comment too much but some of these changes are long overdue, such as consolidation of bank and thrift regulation. Investment banks and Broker/Dealers and the manner and speed with which they develop products (derivatives, asset backed securities, etc.) need more srutiny to determine worst case impact on markets. But I am not nearly smart enough to comment at this point.

The only thing I have to say to the bankers and brokers who will cry and then lobby to stop this is ... You would not be facing this if you had maintained the public trust. In other words you brought this on yourselves.

Clinton Fights Pressure to Withdraw, Tees Up for Fight With Party Elders

She has a double digit lead in PA, she has pullled even in NC, and
Obama cannot shed the "Rev" Wright. Why should she get out? The
funniest part of this article is the part where Chrid Dodd tells
Hillary to drop out because " ... She has no chance". This coming from
a guy who ran for president, even moved the family to Iowa and never
polled higher than one percen?

Even I am starting to pull for Hillary. I mean it. I am really
beginning to admire Mrs Clinton's ... well you know ... determination.

On the other hand, what if all of this is a plot ... a plan to get us
to feel this way? You think ..... naaaah.

Tonight's Chris Matthews Moment

I really have to hand it to Chris tonight. I am not really sure he understands the details ( hear that John McCain)... but he understands the Democrat plan to bail out the borrowers and lenders who were irresponsible is basically unfair. Ladies and Gents I give you tonight's Chris Matthews thumbs up moment.

Of course lenders and borrowers in trouble have already been addressed in the Bush/ Paulson plan that calls on both to renegotiate now ... meaning its already being done ... meaning McCain is right. Bail out people now ... you will just encourage them to buy over their head again ... only more so.

Obamanomics

A key component of Obama's economic plan is more regulation of investment banks. And then he proclaimed his ultimate goal is to end business cycles. And he has the audacity to make fun of McCain? And besides Clinton already did that.

Then he tells business they have to do a better job of managing risk.

I don't disagree with the first part, streamlining regulation but the second part ... I'm not sure what role a President plays in managing risk unless he intends to cover every business in America and two ... all businesses ... all attempt to minimize risk ... it's Business School 101. The ones that do it well ... usually survive.

Tibet Update: China Slips, Reporters See The Real Tibet

For some reason China arranged for a group of Western Jouranlists to tour Tibet to show them how calm everything was ... operative word "was". As soon as monks saw the journalists they cried out for help.

"The outburst by about 30 monks came as the journalists, including an Associated Press reporter, were being shown around the sacred Jokhang Temple by government handlers in Lhasa. "Tibet is not free! Tibet is not free!" yelled one young Buddhist monk, who then started crying"

The President has indeed gotten involved:

"President Bush called China's President Hu Jintao on Wednesday and raised concerns about the crackdown in Tibet. Bush encouraged Hu to engage in "substantive dialogue" with representatives of the Dalai Lama, the White House said. The president also called on China to allow access for journalists and diplomats in Tibet."

The AP says the one lingering question is, that China fails to answer, what led up to the riots? Also what caused these otherwise peacefull people to break loose?

The Stories They Didn’t Want You To Hear At Forest Lake High

Vets Not Welcome in MN School

Imagine serving in multiple deployments for your country including oh, I don't know - COMBAT time. You gather up some of your fellow heroes. And when I say heroes, I mean heroes. Purple Hearts, Bronze Stars, Silver Stars, Navy Cross, and Medal of Honor nominee. So you take these outstanding men and bring your story to towns across America, in the form of a National Heroes Bus Tour ,in an effort to reach out to American citizens, because if you wait for the MSM to get the true story out about what goes on in Iraq and Afghanistan, you'll be waiting forever. So, you schedule an event in your hometown high school. Realizing that the other side will find anyway to stop any positive message about the war, you have the discussion with the administration at the school regarding the political aspect. You guarantee that there will be no political message, only war veterans sharing their experience of being a soldier with the youth of today. But then, a whole 6 emails come in opposing the visit. In other words, an excuse to cancel. Instead of standing up for their hometown hero, Pete Hegseth, they outcast him and tell him he's not welcome. If you're not outraged, you should be. See the full local news article here.

Obama Is A Liberal

Ok ... that's no shock ... but Thomas Sowell points that the Senator shows no signs of compomisinbg any of the far left idology that he has practiced since birth ... in an attempt to unite us.

There is no evidence that Obama ever sought to educate himself on the views of people on the other end of the political spectrum, much less reach out to them. He reached out from the Left to the Far Left. That’s bringing us all together? Is “divisiveness” defined as disagreeing with the agenda of the Left? Who on the Left was ever called divisive by Obama before that became politically necessary in order to respond to revelations about Jeremiah Wright? One sign of Obama’s verbal virtuosity was his equating a passing comment by his grandmother — “a typical white person,” he says — with an organized campaign of public vilification of America in general and white America in particular, by Jeremiah Wright.

They contributed far more in Obama's big earning year, 2005, when they gave $77,315 on an adjusted gross income of $1,655,106.

"TED" is ticker-symbol shorthand for Treasury-Eurodollar. The TED spread is the difference between three-month dollar-LIBOR and the three-month US Treasury bill rate." Overall US death toll in Iraq hits 4,000

Of course the MSM will not honor the fallen heroes as they should, but use the number to their anti-war advantage. Here's one of the anti-war articles.

Here's what I told the New Haven Register a while back: "'We all definitely don't want to be there forever, but it would be a much better tribute to our fallen soldiers to get the job done right and leave with our heads high,' she said.

While the MSM media refuses to, I encourage us all to remember our fallen heroes and their families today. They are the finest this nation has and gave all for us to be able to live freely in this great nation today. Remember that, as the MSM and others try to use the death count as political tool.
